Brookfield is set to invest $10 billion in a new AI data center in Strängnäs, Sweden, located 80 kilometers west of Stockholm. The facility will span 3.77 million square feet and is expected to take 10-15 years to complete, creating 2,000 construction jobs and over 1,000 permanent positions.

Sweden's stable electricity supply and high-speed connectivity made it the preferred choice for the project. The country's infrastructure is critical for energy-intensive AI computations. "To compete in AI development and boost economic productivity, large-scale infrastructure investments are essential," said Sikander Rashid, head of Europe at BAM.

Brookfield already owns the land and is negotiating a 525 million kronor ($50 million) transfer agreement with the local municipality. The deal hinges on meeting specific conditions for the AI hub.
